A technique widely used for the pipe bender is rotary draw bending.
For starters, the tube is wrapped around either a radius block, bend die or on a rotary draw bender. The normal pipe bender tooling has five basic parts: bend die, clamp block, pressure die, mandrel and wiper die. To contain the pipe during bending, the outside radius of the bend die has a profile of one-half the pipe's cross-section. The bend die, or radius block, also has a straight length, tangent to the radius where the pipe is gripped for bending.
The process of bending pipe for a pipe bender consists of a cold
forming process that bends metal piping for good according to the shape
of a specific die yet maintaining the original cross-sectional shape.
The process of a pipe bender involves reducing the tubular outer wall
thickness while augmenting the thickness of the inner wall. Internal
and external supports are generally required to produce highly
intricate forms from metal piping.
